Crevolution
Note: For those using the Web Version, for some reason the ascii text I used is all jumbled up. The button in the top left is the "back" button (if used in battle, it will not save the completed battles so be careful), and in the roster, the symbols on top of the creatures is supposed to be a "check" indicating they are on your team.
Another Note: 99% of the assets were not done by me. My game should not be rated on the assets. This is a note to essentially say I am opting out of any art/music categories. I will give credit to the assets used at the end of this description.
You are given a roster of creatures to pick from, each with their own stats. You can pick 3. You cannot leave the roster unless you have 3 selected. Then, you go into battle and the farther you survive the more your creatures mutate and "evolve".
In battle, you have a speed bar. The speed bar will fill up depending on the creatures speed stat. Once the bar is full, you will have three actions to choose from: Attack, Defend, and Heal. Hovering over them will tell you what they do. Then, once you select one, yellow indicators will appear above valid targets. Green indicators will appear above the creature who's turn it is to make an action.
Depending on how many rounds/waves you make it past, you will be rewarded with more traits to your creatures. "Basic" traits have a max level of 99, "Special" traits have a max level of 3.
There aren't any key binds, everything is done through the mouse
I think my gameplay is too slow for a traditional game jam but I spent most of my time having fun with resources, to the point where if I really wanted to I could create a new creature or new trait for a creature in literally a minute or less.
